Translations for film, art, music, literature, guidebooks and games
Cultural translations are particularly close to my heart, and I put all of my passion into these. What fascinates me about these texts is their variety and the diverse requirements they present. The idea of getting inside an author's head also piques my curiosity, because translations in film, art, music and literature have a lot to do with putting myself in someone else's shoes. These translations depend on good linguistic intuition; the translator must have an ear for tonality and the rhythms of speech. A good translator recognises the nuances of the source language and has the ability to communicate the atmosphere, thoughts and feelings contained in the text.
A translator needs cultural competence, and this is what I can offer as a frequent traveller and voracious reader. I particularly enjoy translating travelogues and literature, as well as non-fiction.
Games and rulebooks
I also count games and rulebooks as cultural translations. I am an enthusiastic game player, so these assignments bring me great joy.
