Education and Qualifications
I studied translation from 1994 to 2000 at the Department of Translation and Interpreting at the University of Heidelberg.
During this time I discovered my affinity for medicine and earned my first professional experience through student work for the Fresenius University of Applied Sciences. There I translated study materials in physical therapy (language/speech and developmental disorders) from Dutch into German.
I completed my studies in November 2000 and graduated with a diploma in translation.
Since February 2001, I have been a member of the German Federal Association of Interpreters and Translators (BDÜ).
I place great value on keeping up my language skills: I attend subject-specific seminars and workshops regularly, and exchange information with colleagues frequently. I stay informed about the latest developments in my fields of expertise.
But it's important to think outside the box as well, and that's why I maintain a more wide-ranging network of contacts through services like Xing, so that I can take advantage of the knowledge and experience that service providers and freelancers from other industries can offer.
